Share the magic of our forest and the simple rhythm of our school days while working directly with our experienced teachers…

Woodhaven School is offering a unique opportunity for a student currently enrolled in an early childhood education program, Waldorf training, a cooperative school parent teacher or a person whom has previously worked with young children. We invite a student seeking practicum education to observe our classrooms, participate in school days and receive mentoring from our two teachers with Waldorf-inspired training. The chosen candidate will attend classroom training along with our parents at the start of school in September, as well as a conflict resolution training in the fall. The candidate will be required to pass a statewide background test. Once the candidate is established in the mentorship program and familiar with our school, they may be called upon to substitute for the lead teachers on occasion in one of our four classes (preschool and a parent & child class).

The role of the intern is to participate and assist with activities following the class rhythm under the direction of our warm and welcoming teachers. Ideally, the right person will have flexibility in their schedule to visit all three of our preschool classes at least two days per month, for a total of six work days per month from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm. We will provide opportunities to learn circle songs, movement, stories, and artistic crafts according to the seasons. You will learn how to make and serve hearty snacks including bread, rice, oatmeal and soup and join the class for family-style meals. You’ll also experience the wonders of our outdoor space with about half of every class spent playing in the forest and at our playground.
